Resin Selection
Our pipe goes beyond that of a commodity by sourcing the most technologically advanced raw materials.
Modern advancements in raw materials such as bimodal resins, have been engineered to provide the most advanced resistance to mechanical ‘modes’ or ‘modal’ forms of failure in pressurized PE piping systems. Protect, defend, and ensure your pipeline integrity against both rapid and slow crack growth by choosing pipe made exclusively with DOW CONTINUUM™ Bimodal Resins.
- Bimodal pipe exhibits a 4.5 times higher resistance to RCP than Unimodal (560 psi Vs. 121 psi)
- Bimodal exhibits 30x more PENT Hours than Unimodal

Learn more about the bimodal DOW CONTINUUM resins PolyPipe uses.
PolyPipe extrudes all HDPE (black with yellow stripe) gas pipe with DOW's CONTINUUM™ DGDA-2490 NT. This is a PE4710 class of resin that instills the mechanical strength required for natural gas distribution (NGD) systems, liquid petroleum gas (LPG), propane, and after-meter applications.
PolyPipe extrudes all MDPE yellow gas pipe with DOW's CONTINUUM™ DGDA-2420 NT. This bimodal resin is specifically formulated for pipe applications where long-term hydrostatic strength combined with outstanding resistance to slow crack growth and rapid crack propagation is desired. PolyTough1 is suitable for propane, liquid petroleum gas (LPG), and other low pressure after-meter applications.
